Barrage of fireworks erupt in downtown Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles experienced a spectacular display of fireworks on Sunday, illuminating the night sky. Limited details are available about the event, and it remains unclear where the fireworks originated. Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported being notified of the pyrotechnics near city hall around 10:45 p.m.

Video footage obtained by KTLA captures a series of explosions behind the Double Tree Hotel in downtown L.A., located at 120 S. Los Angeles Street. In the video, a witness, Derek Bowe, is heard expressing astonishment at the unexpected display, saying, “Bro, what the F***? It is 10:40 at night. I’m out here chilling on the roof. What is this?” According to Bowe, the fireworks continued for nearly three minutes.

Another witness, Rich Windisch, shared a video on social media, questioning whether another fireworks warehouse was exploding northeast of downtown Los Angeles, adding that the display had been ongoing for five minutes.

As of now, the LAPD has not provided information about the source of the fireworks or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The unexpected and dazzling display has captured the attention of locals and social media users.
