An investigation is underway following a deadly shooting at Fixins Soul Kitchen, a restaurant located in downtown Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the incident, which occurred on West Olympic Boulevard at Peacock Place at LA Live on Tuesday night. According to LAPD, a man entered the restaurant and opened fire on another man before fleeing the scene in a white SUV.

Tragically, the man who was shot was pronounced dead at the hospital. Shortly after, a second individual—a woman who was with the deceased man—was rushed to the hospital. LAPD reported that she sustained injuries from a bullet grazing through but is expected to recover.

While officials did not provide a detailed description of the alleged gunman, LAPD believes that the suspect and the victim were acquainted, and the restaurant is no longer considered to be in danger. The precise location of the shooting, whether inside or outside the restaurant, remains undisclosed. Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the outbreak of gunfire.

Notably, the incident occurred in close proximity to Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as the Staples Center), but no NBA or NHL games were scheduled for Tuesday night. Fixins Soul Kitchen, where the shooting transpired, is owned by former NBA All-Star and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.
