Jasson Dominguez capped a three-run, sixth-inning uprising with a two-run homer, and the New York Yankees beat the host Houston Astros 6-1 on Sunday night to complete a three-game series sweep.

Dominguez homered on the second pitch of his first at-bat in his major league debut on Friday. He snapped a 1-1 deadlock with his second career home run, a towering 358-foot shot down the right field line with two outs to plate DJ LeMahieu, whose one-out RBI double drove home Oswaldo Cabrera and pulled the Yankees even.

The Yankees (68-69) ended their 10-game road trip 7-3, including back-to-back series victories. Their last series sweep came at home against the Kansas City Royals in late July.

The Astros (77-61) entered the series riding a five-game winning streak and fell to 35-34 at home. The loss dropped Houston into a tie for second place in the American League West with the Texas Rangers, one game behind the Seattle Mariners.

Astros right-hander Cristian Javier (9-3) had labored mightily for most of the previous two months, recording only one quality start since tossing six shutout innings against the Washington Nationals on June 15. But Javier was efficient in the early going on Sunday.

Javier faced only one batter over the minimum through five innings. He retired 13 consecutive batters before No. 9 hitter Cabrera reached on a single and LeMahieu followed with a double that caromed off the wall in left center in the sixth. Dominguez followed with his blast as the Yankees took the lead for good.

Javier allowed three runs on four hits and posted eight strikeouts over six innings.

Yankees right-hander Michael King (4-5), making just his fourth start of the season, allowed a pair of hits and a Kyle Tucker sacrifice fly in the first inning but was otherwise sharp. He surrendered one run on five hits with four strikeouts over five innings.

Tommy Kahnle followed with two shutout innings of relief before Jonathan Loaisiga induced Jose Altuve to ground into an inning-ending double play to suppress a threat in the eighth.

The Yankees tacked on three runs in the ninth off Jose Urquidy, sparked by Gleyber Torres’ 24th home run this season.
