Saturday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 16 Colts-Cardinals Showdown tournaments

Saturday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 16 Colts-Cardinals Showdown tournaments

Both the Cardinals and Colts have their eyes set on postseason ball, but only one has the look of a playoff-caliber squad at the moment. The Cardinals have dropped two straight, including a 30-12 drubbing at the hands of the Lions last week. The Colts, on the other hand, have been relatively dominant, winning two on the spin and five of their past six. DraftKings Sportsbook is listing the Cardinals as one-point favorites with a total of 48.5 — numbers that don’t exactly cause us to lean one way or another with our DraftKings Showdown lineup picks, but there is still an obvious “Captain” who is as chalk as any of our DFS selections all season.

Here are the important settings for DraftKings single-game contests: It’s full-point PPR, and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Colts vs. Cardinals

$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.

Captain (1.5x salary, 1.5x points): RB Jonathan Taylor, Colts ($18,000)

There’s really nothing that needs to be said here. Taylor has as many 30-plus-point DraftKing efforts (four) as finishes below 20 points. He will be an obvious choice for “Captain” on this slate. The only thing a froggy DFS player might want to consider is going contrarian with Kyler Murray in this spot, but that’s only for those who want to get cute.

MORE SATURDAY NIGHT DFS: FanDuel lineup

FLEX: QB Kyler Murray, Cardinals ($11,400)

Murray remains an attractive DFS play in spite of the Cardinals’ recent struggles. He has three games with 30-plus DK points and is a viable option for one’s captaincy as a contrarian play. He’ll need to do a better job of handling life post-DeAndre Hopkins, but that should look better this week than it did last Sunday.

WEEK 16 DFS LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel | Yahoo

FLEX: WR Christian Kirk, Cardinals ($9,000)

Kirk is the proverbial “next man up” in the wake of Hopkins’ (regular) season-ending knee injury. He turned 12 targets into a 9-94-1 line and 24.4 DK points. Kirk has demonstrated an ability to make big plays and turn in solid performances, and he’ll continue to see a larger share of the passing game pie.

WEEK 16 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: WR Michael Pittman Jr., Colts ($7,200)

Sometimes we like to dip into qualitative analysis and lean into some assumptions. In this case, we’re going to assume Pittman was all business in practice and in the building this week. After all, getting ejected in a big game, as Pittman did last Saturday, is the type of “disappointing” mistake that will give a player a kick in the keister. He should be able to do a helluva lot better than the 1.7 DK points he managed prior to his early exit.

WEEK 16 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: RB Chaes Edmonds, Cardinals ($3,000)

Edmonds returned to action last Sunday to play 29 snaps. The Cardinals are easing him in after he missed so much time with an ankle sprain, but he should see his workload ramp up in ensuing weeks. With Hopkins out of the picture, there’s an opportunity for Edmonds’ production to pick up in short order.

MORE WEEK 16 DFS: Best values | Lineup Builder

FLEX: WR Antoine Wesley, Cardinals ($1,000)

Wesley logged season highs in snaps (64) and targets (eight) last week and is just another Cardinal who is going to be expected to pick up his game with increased opportunity. What we really like in this spot is Wesley’s price, which allows us to include a few high-priced options in our lineup.
