Monday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 8 Giants-Chiefs Showdown tournaments

It’s not very often you can say the Chiefs are coming off of a game in which they were smoked, but that’s the case ahead of Week 8’s Monday Night Football matchup. Kansas City will be looking to erase the sour taste from last week’s 27-3 beatdown that came at the hands of the Titans, while the Giants continue to have their own issues despite last week’s win against the Panthers. With both teams down their starting running backs and at least one key Giants receiver out, there are plenty of potential DFS values available for our DraftKings Showdown lineup.

Here’s a reminder of the important scoring settings for DraftKings Showdown contests: They’re full-point PPR and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Giants vs. Chiefs

$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.

Captain (1.5x value, 1.5x points): QB Daniel Jones, Giants ($15,200)

For better or for worse, Jones has not run with as much reckless abandon in recent weeks. Even so, the threat he presents with his legs is appealing in this spot. The Giants will likely add a couple of weapons back into the fold, with Sterling Shepard (hamstring) likely to play and Kadarius Toney (ankle) trending toward playing, but much of the burden will be on Jones to make something happen. It’s rarely aesthetically pleasing when the Giants have the ball, but they should be able to do some damage against a poor Chiefs defense.

FLEX: QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($12,000)

Most players would do anything to put up the numbers Mahomes has in what can be considered a “down” year. He’s still notched at least 28.0 DraftKings points in four-of-seven games, and even though the Giants can make things challenging on defense, this is a game in which Mahomes can post another high score. Our only regret is we can’t afford to name him our “Captain.”

FLEX: Tyreek Hill, Chiefs ($11,000)

If you prefer a steadier floor, Travis Kelce ($10,600) is a viable option, but we’re swinging for the fences. Hill has delivered 40.1-point and 50.6-point outbursts on DraftKings this season. Those may not come around particularly often, but if someone is going to ignite to that degree, it’s most likely going to be HIll.

FLEX: WR Kadarius Toney, Giants ($6,800)

It’s understandable for DFS players to have some trepidation over Toney’s inclusion in lineups this week after he was forced from the Giants’ Week 6 contest and held out the following week. The reward is worth the risk though. With Saquon Barkley (ankle) and Kenny Golladay (knee) sidelined, Toney is the most dangerous and dynamic weapon on the Giants’ offense. The Chiefs will certainly be aware, but they’re still unlikely to completely shut him down with their hapless defense — they rank 31st in DVOA and allow the seventh most passing yards per game.

FLEX: K Graham Gano, Giants ($3,800)

As much criticism as the Chiefs have received for their toothless defense, the Giants have continued to look poor offensively. Having a couple of pieces back in the passing game should help matters, but they’re still not likely to operate cleanly and efficiently. They’ve attempted the third most field goals per game (2.4) and could find themselves settling for three on multiple occasions on Monday night. Gano has scored 12.0-plus DK points on three occasions, including 22.0 in a Week 2 loss.

FLEX: WR Demarcus Robinson, Chiefs ($800)

Cross your fingers and toes, grip your rabbit’s foot, and rub your four-leaf clovers. We’re not asking for a miracle from Robinson, but he does have a pair of 3-46-1 performances under his belt this season, good for 13.6 DK points. Every defense knows the Chiefs’ attack flows through Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, and when teams dedicate the resources to stopping them, other players have to step up. The hope is Robinson can deliver when his number is called on Monday night. If you have a stronger hunch about Jerick McKinnon finding the paint or having a better game in general, he’s only $1,000 and fits into this lineup.
